Board Certified, Commercial Real Estate Law, Texas Board of Legal Specialization.

Myron East’s practice focuses upon commercial real estate law, representing, most significantly, real estate developers in retail, residential, office and mixed-use developments. His experience also includes the formation and maintenance, dissolution, merger, consolidation and disposition of partnerships, business corporations, non-profit corporations, professional corporations, professional associations, limited liability companies, and professional limited liability companies.

Recently, Mr. East has expanded his practice into the oil, gas and energy field given the unprecedented growth in the San Antonio area, and in the shale-rich areas of the United States generally. Mr. East's practice within this area is an extension of historical expertise in the real estate field into the "oil patch." Such work includes the providing of title opinions, title curative work, related probate work and leasing and conveyance.

Although his practice has transitioned into transactional areas, Mr. East has also tried multiple jury trials in state and federal court, and appeals in the Texas Court of Appeals, the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the Texas Supreme Court. Mr. East has also been involved in multiple cases before federal agencies such as the National Labor Relations Board, the United States Tax Court, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, and the Department of Labor. This litigation experience, much of which is sourced from the Texas commercial real estate and banking crisis of the 1980s, is of particular importance in assisting clients today in real estate loan restructuring arrangements, the negotiation thereof, and in disputes between borrowers and lenders and landlords and tenants, among other areas. Mr. East, recently, was a key member of the successful appellate team in the Texas Supreme Court case of Solar Applications Eng., Inc. v. TA Operating Corp.

For more than 18 years, Myron East managed his own firm, first under the name of East & Barnhill, and thereafter as East & East, P.C. In January 2004, he merged his practice into Barton & Schneider, L.L.P. before becoming Barton, East & Caldwell, P.L.L.C.   In 2018, Mr. East was part of the restructuring of BEC into the firm of Caldwell East & Finlayson PLLC.
